Taylor's – Vintage Port 2017 – 0.75 Ltr.

Douro, Portugal – Blend of traditional grape varieties

A powerful and elegant Vintage Port from an exceptional wine year

The Taylor's Vintage Port 2017 is an impressive wine, coming from the renowned vineyards Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta do Junco. This vintage is characterised by its deep, almost opaque purple colour and an intense aromatic profile.

Tasting notes
On the nose an explosion of powerful forest fruits, with lively accents of green apple, fresh plums and raspberries. The bouquet is further enriched with floral hints of violets and rose petals, as well as exotic notes of cedar and jasmine. On the palate the wine presents itself with beautifully ripe tannins that integrate perfectly into the mid-palate, which offers both structure and volume. The finish is powerful and complex, with an endless stream of fresh fruit.

Food pairing
This Vintage Port is ideally suited as a digestif and combines well with blue cheeses such as Stilton or Gorgonzola. Serve at a temperature of 16–18°C. Decant before serving to allow the wine to fully develop.

Reviews & Awards

  • 98–100 pointsRobert Parker's Wine Advocate : "A step up from the 2016, with fine depth, more focus, lively fruit and serious power. Potentially a great Taylor's, effortlessly combining brilliant fruit and structure."

  • 97 pointsWine Spectator : “Offers a dense growl of dark currant, fig and blackberry paste flavors, laced with hints of buckwheat, baker's chocolate and warm tar.”

  • 97 pointsWine Enthusiast : “The structure is very dominant in this wine at the moment. The dark tannins are concentrated, waiting for the masked black fruits to come through.”

  • 98 pointsFalstaff : “More peppery than fruity on the nose, black cherry in the background, but also something enormously fresh, fennel herb, mint, almost petroleum, celery.”

Vinification & Maturation
The grapes were harvested by hand from old vines in the Douro Valley. After fermentation, the wine was aged in wooden barrels for about 20 months, which contributed to its complexity and structure. The wine was bottled in 2019.
