Elena Walch – Cuvée Kermesse 2015

Alto Adige, Italy – Syrah, Petit Verdot, Lagrein, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

A majestic red cuvée in an imposing format

The Cuvée Kermesse 2015 is a powerful and elegant red blend of five grape varieties: Syrah, Petit Verdot, Lagrein, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Originating from steep vineyards in Tramin and Caldaro, this wine reflects the unique terroir of Alto Adige. The 5-liter bottle, packed in an original wooden box (OWC), makes this wine an impressive showpiece for any occasion.

Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with purple reflections. The nose is complex and layered, with aromas of lightly toasted tobacco, pepper, chocolate, red berries, wild berries and dried figs. In the mouth powerful, elegant and harmonious, with well-integrated tannins, delicate toasted aromas and a spicy fullness that leads to a long finish.

Food pairing
Excellent with a wide range of meat and game dishes, such as roasted meat, mushroom risotto, mushroom tagliatelle, hard cheeses, carpaccio, steak with green pepper, lamb, cold cuts and salami.

Reviews & Awards

  • 92 pointsFalstaff : “A wine with great finesse and character.”

Vinification
All the grapes, except the later maturing Cabernet Sauvignon, are harvested on the same day and vinified together. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks for about 10 days, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is then aged for 18 months in French oak barriques, most of which are new. This is followed by bottle maturation for several months before the wine is released onto the market.
