The 2015 vintage of Château Lafite Rothschild is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, harvested between September 17th and October 6th. The wine was aged for 20 months in 100% new oak barrels from the château's own cooperage. This wine embodies the elegance and complexity typical of Lafite, with impressive ageing potential.
Tasting notes
The wine has a deep garnet red color with purple reflections. In the nose aromas of black cherries, cassis, cedar and graphite, complemented by notes of cigar box, violets and undergrowth. In the mouth medium-bodied with silky tannins, a harmonious structure and a long, clean finish. The wine shows a perfect balance between power and elegance.
Wine and food
This wine is an excellent accompaniment to dishes such as roasted leg of lamb with rosemary, venison steak with blackcurrant jus, duck with cherries or mature cheeses such as Comté and Époisses.
