Gaja – Pieve Santa Restituta Sugarille Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015

Tuscany, Italy – 100% Sangiovese

A powerful and elegant Brunello from an iconic cru

The Sugarille 2015 is a single-vineyard Brunello from the renowned Pieve Santa Restituta vineyard, owned by the Gaja winery. This wine is produced only in exceptional years and comes from a plot with a rich history, whose name refers to the presence of cork oaks ( suber in Latin). The vineyard is located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level and is known for its chalky soils that provide a unique expression of the Sangiovese grape.

Tasting notes
Deep ruby red in colour. The nose is complex and layered, with aromas of black cherry, plum, tobacco, leather and a hint of liquorice. Powerful and structured on the palate, with firm but refined tannins, lively acidity and a long, mineral finish.

Food pairing
This Brunello is an excellent accompaniment to grilled red meat, game dishes such as venison or wild boar, and mature hard cheeses. Also delicious with truffle risotto or mushroom pasta.
