Piedmont, Italy – 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

A powerful and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of Piedmont

The Darmagi 2016 is an expressive and elegant wine from Angelo Gaja's winery. Coming from vineyards in Barbaresco, this wine combines power with finesse. The 2016 vintage, marked by an ideal growing season, has produced a wine with depth, structure and impressive aging potential.

Deep ruby red in colour. On the nose aromas of blackcurrants, cassis, tobacco and cedar. On the palate powerful and structured with notes of ripe plums and blackcurrants, supported by firm but well integrated tannins and a long, complex finish.

Food pairing
Excellent with dishes such as grilled red meat, game dishes, stews and mature hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano.

Reviews & Awards

  • 94 pointsRevista Adega : “Darmagi 2016 is a dense and structured wine, with notes of ripe plums and blackberries, accompanied by floral, fresh herbs and spices. The wine stands out for its varietal character and gastronomic style, with lively acidity and tense, firm tannins.”

  • 93 pointsTastingbook : “The 2016 Darmagi is a polished, full-bodied, juicy and generous wine. Although some may find it less personality than the Nebbiolos, it is undoubtedly a very well-made wine.”

Vinification & Maturation
The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques for 6 to 8 months, followed by 12 months in large oak barrels.
