Pioneer of Italian Chardonnay from the heart of the Langhe
The Gaia & Rey 2020 is an iconic white wine from the renowned house of Gaja, named after Angelo Gaja's daughter Gaia and his grandmother Clotilde Rey. Since the first vintage in 1983, this wine has been considered the benchmark for Italian Chardonnay. Originating from high-altitude vineyards in Treiso and Serralunga d'Alba, where 40-year-old vines are deeply rooted in chalky soils. The wine is vinified and matured in French barriques, resulting in a wine of exceptional elegance and depth.
Tasting notes
The wine presents itself with a bright straw yellow color and golden reflections. In the nose delicate aromas of white flowers, ripe stone fruit such as peach and melon, subtle notes of honey and a hint of citrus. On the palate the wine is full and silky, with a lively freshness and a long, mineral finish. The combination of ripe fruit, elegant wood tones and a refined acidity makes this wine a true pleasure.
