Piedmont, Italy – 100% Sauvignon Blanc

A refined and expressive Sauvignon Blanc from the heart of Piedmont

Angelo Gaja 's Alteni di Brassica 2019 is an expressive and elegant Sauvignon Blanc from carefully selected vineyards around Barbaresco and Serralunga in Piedmont. The 2019 growing season offered ideal conditions, resulting in a wine with depth, structure and impressive aging potential. This vintage highlights Gaja's pursuit of finesse and authenticity.

Tasting notes:
Clear golden yellow in colour. In the nose an aromatic explosion of grapefruit, papaya and pear, complemented by floral accents and subtle spiciness. The taste is fresh and lively, with a refined acidity and a firm structure.

A harmonious Sauvignon Blanc that combines lively freshness with subtle tropical influences.

Foodpairing:
Perfect with shellfish, grilled fish, poultry and soft cheeses. Also delicious with dishes with light herbs and fresh vegetables.

Reviews & Awards:

  • 94 points – Antonio Galloni (Vinous):
“The 2019 Alteni di Brassica is bright, focused and full of energy. Sage, mint, tomato leaf and a whole host of varietal notes bring vibrancy to this beautifully sculpted Sauvignon from the Gaja family.”

  • 94 points – Vintage Corks:
“The wine opens with layered and complex notes of papaya and pineapple juice, followed by vegetal hints of sage and a memory of plant sap. On the palate, the 2019 Alteni di Brassica shows well-defined fruity notes (grapefruit, papaya, pear) with floral and spicy hints.”

Vinification & Maturation:
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques for 6 to 8 months, followed by bottle aging to further develop complexity and depth.
