Champagne, France – 58% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir

A masterful blend of three exceptional vintages

The Grand Siècle Itération N°23 is a prestigious cuvée from Laurent-Perrier, composed of three complementary top vintages: 2006 (65%), 2004 (20%) and 2002 (15%). This champagne is only available in magnum format and has been matured on the yeasts for 14 years, resulting in a wine of unparalleled depth and complexity.

Tasting notes
Clear pale yellow with silver reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose aromas of candied citrus, honey, summer flowers, brioche and subtle toasted notes. The palate reveals a silky texture with flavors of almond, citrus and yellow fruit, followed by a fresh, mineral and long-lasting finish with a hint of saltiness.

Food pairing
This champagne is an excellent accompaniment to refined dishes such as caviar on blinis, grilled oysters, red tuna sashimi, roasted lobster with butter sauce, truffle risotto and Bresse chicken with morels.

Reviews & Awards

  • 99 pointsFalstaff :
“Pale yellow green, silver reflections, very fine, persistent mousse. Delicate background with cookie and nuts, fine yellow tropical fruit, a hint of lime and orange zest, mineral touch, almond cake and floral nuances. Taut, tight-knit, white peach fruit, lively structure, hints of pineapple, white apple and nectarines in the finish, a fine salty touch, youthful, great length, certain aging potential.”

  • 96 pointsWine Advocate (William Kelley):
“Mingling aromas of peach, pear, fresh pastry, citrus oil, buttered toast and white flowers. Full-bodied, fleshy and ample, it's elegantly gourmand, with fabulous depth and a long, expansive finish.”

  • 95 pointsVinous (Antonio Galloni):
“The No. 23 is fascinating to taste within the context of the other wines in the series. It offers a beguiling mix of radiance and energy that seems to capture a little bit of elements of some of its older siblings.”

Vinification & Maturation
The blend is composed of 58% Chardonnay and 42% Pinot Noir, originating from 11 Grands Crus, including Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Mailly. The wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle (Méthode Champenoise) and then matures for 14 years on the yeasts. The dosage is 7 g/l, which ensures a perfect balance between freshness and complexity.
