A rare 80 year old Tawny celebrating peace and craftsmanship
Taylor's Victory Port 80 Years Old Tawny 1945 is an exceptional release, created to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This unique port is composed of rare, cask-aged wines matured for eight decades in hand-crafted, seasoned oak barrels in Taylor's historic cellars in Porto. Only 1,945 individually numbered bottles were released, paying tribute to the year 1945 when peace was restored.
Tasting notes
In the glass the wine shows a deep mahogany colour with copper-gold rim. The nose is seduced by a lush mix of rum and raisins, molasses, caramel, coffee beans, golden sultanas, sweet cigar leaf and an elegant nuttiness. On the palate the wine reveals layers of nutmeg, gingerbread, anise and quince, followed by black pepper, rich fig pudding and candied apricot. The palate is perfectly balanced with a silky texture and a fresh acidity that gives the wine elegance and liveliness. The finish is immensely long and harmonious.
