Douro, Portugal – Blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties

A tribute to 80 years of craftsmanship and history

The Victory Port 80 Years Old Tawny is an exceptional creation from Taylor's, released to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This rare Tawny Port is composed of a selection of very old Ports, matured for eight decades in hand-crafted, seasoned oak casks in Taylor's historic cellars in Porto. Only 1,945 bottles were produced, a symbolic number referring to the year 1945, and each bottle is individually numbered and presented in a bespoke luxury ash wood case. t

Tasting notes
In the glass the wine shows a rich mahogany colour fading to copper-gold at the rim. The bouquet is intense and seductive, with aromas of rum and raisins, molasses, caramel, coffee beans, golden sultanas, sweet cigar leaf, fine nuts and subtle oak notes. On the palate the wine reveals hints of nutmeg, gingerbread, anise and quince, followed by a burst of black pepper, rich fig and plum pudding and candied apricot. The palate is perfectly balanced with a velvety texture, refreshed by a lively acidity that gives the wine an appealing freshness and elegance. The finish is exceptionally long, finely structured and beautifully balanced, with incredible depth and layers of complexity.

Food pairing
This Tawny Port is an excellent companion to desserts with figs, almonds and caramel, such as crème brûlée or a plate of wild strawberries. It is also delicious on its own at the end of a meal, served with walnuts or dried fruit.

Vinification & Maturation
For this extraordinary blend, Taylor’s has drawn on its extensive reserves of very old cask-matured Ports, carefully preserved in the historic cellars of Porto. Among these reserves lies a treasure trove of rare and historically significant wines, only revealed in the most exceptional circumstances. For the Victory Port, Taylor’s expert blenders have carefully selected some of these remarkable vintages. Once selected, these individual wines are harmoniously blended using Taylor’s centuries-old expertise, creating a seamless integration of flavours, complexity and depth. The blend is then left in the cask for several months to meld together, until it achieves perfect balance and elegance.
