Douro, Portugal – Blend of traditional grape varieties

A unique port with 125 years of maturation: a rare masterpiece

Taylor's 1896 Very Old Single Harvest Tawny Port is an exceptional wine, originating from Taylor's renowned vineyards in the Douro Valley. This port has been matured in oak barrels for an impressive 125 years, resulting in an unparalleled complexity and depth.

Tasting notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep mahogany color with olive green reflections at the rim. The bouquet opens with rich aromas of black coffee and licorice, followed by notes of cedar, dried rose petals, fennel and eucalyptus. Subtle hints of black pepper and vanilla add a warm, spicy dimension. On the palate, the wine is dense, round and velvety with an impressive volume and concentration. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by a fresh acidity. Flavour notes of creamy coffee and butterscotch combine with lively notes of orange peel and citrus. The finish is endless, with the rich flavours lingering on the palate. t

Food pairing
This exceptional port is ideal as a digestif and pairs wonderfully with dried fruit, nuts, blue cheeses such as Stilton or Gorgonzola, and desserts such as pecan pie or crème brûlée. Serve at a temperature of 16–18°C. Decant before serving to allow the wine to fully develop.
